Connect accounts with the TexAu browser extension
TexAu Desktop connects your platform accounts through a Chrome extension. The extension captures the platform session from your browser. It sends the capture to the TexAu app on your own computer. The app stores the capture encrypted and uses it to run automations.
The extension supports these platforms:
| Platform | Website |
|---|---|
linkedin.com |
|
| X (Twitter) | x.com |
| Slack | slack.com |
Before you start#
- You need Google Chrome on the same computer as the TexAu app.
- You need the TexAu app installed and activated. Read guide 1.
- You need the extension package from TexAu. If you do not have it, contact TexAu support.
- You need an account on the platform that you want to connect.
Install the extension manually#
You install the extension manually from the extension package.
- Unzip the extension package. Keep the folder in a permanent place.
- Open Chrome.
- Type
chrome://extensionsin the address bar and press Enter. - Turn on "Developer mode" in the top right corner.
- Click "Load unpacked".
- Open the unzipped folder and select the "dist" folder inside it. Then click "Select".
The extension "TexAu" now appears in the list. Chrome loads the extension from this folder. If you delete or move the folder, Chrome removes the extension.
To pin the extension:
- Click the puzzle icon in the Chrome toolbar.
- Click the pin icon next to "TexAu".
The TexAu icon now stays in the toolbar.
Pair the extension with the app#
Pairing links the extension to your app one time. The pairing token works like a password. The app shows the hint "Reveal to copy. Anyone with this token can send cookie captures to this app." Keep the token private.
- Open the TexAu app.
- Click "Settings" in the left sidebar.
- Open the "Extension" tab.
- In the "Browser extension" section, reveal the "Pairing token".
- Copy the token.
- Right-click the TexAu icon in the Chrome toolbar.
- Select "Options". The "Pair with TexAu" page opens.
- Paste the token into the "Pairing token" field.
- Click "Save".
The page confirms that the token is saved and that you can close the tab. The extension badge now shows "Connected" when the app runs.
You can also open the pairing page from the popup. Click the TexAu icon, then click "Pair extension…".
Connect an account#
- In Chrome, open the platform website.
- Sign in to the account that you want to connect.
- Click the TexAu icon in the Chrome toolbar.
- Make sure that the popup shows "Detected:" with the platform name.
- Click "Capture cookies".
- Wait for the message "✓ Sent" with the cookie count.
- Open the "Accounts" tab in the TexAu app.
The account appears in the app automatically. The account card shows the name, the profile photo, and the capture time.
If the popup shows "Navigate to a supported platform to capture cookies", the active tab is not on a supported platform. Open LinkedIn, X, or Slack first.
The app also shows these steps. Click "Connect Account" in the "Accounts" tab to see them.
What the app captures#
The capture contains this data:
- The session cookies of the platform.
- Profile data: your name, profile URL, and profile photo.
- For LinkedIn: Sales Navigator and Recruiter access, if the account has it.
The extension sends the capture only to the TexAu app on your computer. The connection stays on your computer and never leaves it.
Update a session#
Platform sessions expire. The account card shows the age of the last capture. If a run fails because the session is no longer valid, capture the session again:
- Sign in to the platform in Chrome again.
- Click the TexAu icon.
- Click "Capture cookies".
The app replaces the stored session of the account with the new capture.
Remove an account#
- Open the "Accounts" tab.
- Click the trash icon on the account card.
- Click "Remove" in the confirmation dialog.
The app deletes the stored cookies of the account. To use the account again, capture the session again.
Regenerate the pairing token#
If another person got your token, or if support asks you, regenerate the token.
- Open "Settings" and then the "Extension" tab.
- Click "Regenerate token".
- In the warning box, click "Regenerate token" again.
The old token no longer works. Then pair the extension again with the new token.
