Why this automation is useful#
LinkedIn and Sales Navigator use different URL formats for the same profile. Many tools accept only one format. The converter returns both formats in one run.
The export includes the internal IDs that other automations expect. This removes manual ID lookups in the browser.
The invitation fields identify a pending connection request between you and the profile. The invitation state tells you who sent it.
Use cases#
- Fix mixed URLs in a lead list. A sales team has a CSV with LinkedIn and Sales Navigator URLs in one column. Convert every row before loading it into an outreach tool. This stops import errors from mismatched formats.
- Prepare profiles for a Sales Navigator workflow. An agency converts public LinkedIn URLs to Sales Navigator URLs. The output feeds directly into Sales Navigator list building. One input produces both formats.
- Audit pending connection requests. Run the profiles from a sent-request export through the converter. The invitation ID and invitation state fields confirm which requests stay open. Use the list to plan a cleanup of stale invitations.
- Deduplicate a CRM against LinkedIn IDs. A business owner converts CRM profile URLs to LinkedIn profile IDs. Match records on the ID instead of the name. ID matching catches duplicates that name matching misses.
- Work across account types as a freelancer. A freelancer receives Sales Navigator links from a client but uses free LinkedIn. Convert each link to a public profile URL. Open and contact the profile without a Sales Navigator seat.
How to use it#
- Connect your LinkedIn account with the TexAu browser extension.
- Open LinkedIn Universal Profile Converter in the TexAu Desktop app.
- Enter a LinkedIn profile URL, a Sales Navigator profile URL, or a profile ID.
- Run the automation.
- Open the CSV in your export folder when the run ends.
The automation uses your active LinkedIn session. Do not use the account heavily in the browser during the run.
Limits and limitations#
- TexAu sets a default limit of 80 executions per day for this automation.
- The input takes one URL or ID per row.
- Invitation fields stay empty when no pending request exists between you and the profile.
- The automation converts identifiers only. It does not extract full profile data.
- LinkedIn can change URL and ID formats. Some fields can come back empty after a platform change.
FAQ#
Q: How many profiles can I convert per day? A: TexAu sets a default limit of 80 executions per day. Each execution converts the URL or ID you entered.
Q: Can LinkedIn restrict my account for converting profiles? A: Yes, if you exceed the limits. TexAu adds random delays between actions. Keep to the default daily limit to reduce risk.
Q: Do I need a proxy? A: A proxy is not required for one account. Use one proxy per account when you run many accounts.
Q: What LinkedIn account do I need? A: A free LinkedIn account is enough. A Sales Navigator subscription is not required to convert public LinkedIn URLs.
Q: Does the automation dedupe results? A: TexAu dedupes repeated runs of the same input. Keep your CSVs clean by not re-running the same input.
Q: Where do the results go? A: Results save as a CSV in your export folder. You can also find past runs in the History section of the app.
Q: Why are the invitation fields empty? A: These fields fill only when a pending invitation exists between your account and the profile. Profiles without a pending request return empty invitation fields.
Q: Which URL formats does the converter accept? A: LinkedIn profile URLs, Sales Navigator lead URLs, and public profile URLs.
Troubleshooting#
The automation asks me to connect the account again. The platform session expired. Reconnect the account with the TexAu browser extension. See Connect accounts with the TexAu browser extension.
The run fails with an invalid URL error. Copy the URL exactly as the Inputs table shows. The automation checks the URL format before it runs.
The CSV has fewer results than expected. The platform shows less data to your account than the total count suggests. Private or restricted profiles do not appear. This is normal platform behavior.
The automation stops before the run completes. You reached a rate limit window. Wait for the window to reset, then run the automation again. See Manage rate limits.
The same run fails several times. Note the exact error message from the app. Contact TexAu support and include this message and the automation name.
