Why this automation is useful#

Topics show what a profile chooses to see in its feed. This is a direct signal of interests. X (Twitter) does not offer a way to export this data by hand.

The export lists each topic with a name, description, and follow status. The Not Interested field shows topics the profile rejected. Both signals together describe the account better than the bio alone.

For your own account, the export is a content planning tool. You see the full map of topics your feed is built on. You can align your posts with the topics that matter to your audience.

Use cases#

  1. Personalize outreach at scale. Sales teams can export the topics a key prospect follows. Reference one topic in the first line of your message. Relevant openers raise reply rates compared to generic pitches.
  2. Plan a content strategy from proven interests. Business owners can export topics followed by their own account and by peer accounts. Compare the lists. Publish posts that match the topics your market follows.
  3. Audit a client account for an agency. Export the followed topics of a new client. Check whether the topics match the client's positioning. Fix the gap as part of your onboarding deliverable.
  4. Research influencers before a partnership. Export the topics an influencer follows. Confirm the account operates in your niche before you pay for a placement. Skip accounts whose topics do not match.
  5. Find angles for a freelance content writer. Export topics followed by the client's account and its competitors. Use the shared topics as content pillars. Pitch the pillar list to the client as a monthly plan.
  6. Clean up your own feed signal. Run the automation on your own profile. Review the Not Interested and Following Topic flags. Adjust your topics so your feed surfaces better research material.

How to use it#

  1. Connect your X (Twitter) account with the TexAu browser extension.
  2. Open Twitter Profile Followed Topics Export in the TexAu Desktop app.
  3. Enter the profile URL. Use the format https://x.com/username/.
  4. Run the automation.
  5. Open the CSV in your export folder when the run ends.

The automation uses your active session. Do not use the account heavily in the browser during the run.

Limits and limitations#

  • TexAu sets a default limit of 800 executions per day and 40 executions per hour for this automation.
  • An active X (Twitter) session is required.
  • X (Twitter) controls what topic data is visible per account. Some profiles can return limited results.
  • Topic catalogs change over time. Topic names and IDs come from X (Twitter).

FAQ#

Q: How many profiles can I export per day? A: TexAu sets a default limit of 800 executions per day and 40 executions per hour.

Q: Can X (Twitter) restrict my account for exporting topics? A: Yes, if you exceed limits. TexAu adds random delays between actions. Keep to the default limits to reduce risk.

Q: Do I need a proxy? A: A proxy is not required for one account. Use one proxy per account when you run many accounts.

Q: What account do I need? A: A free X (Twitter) account is enough.

Q: Does the automation dedupe results? A: TexAu dedupes repeated runs of the same input. Keep your CSVs clean by not re-running the same input.

Q: Where do the results go? A: Results save as a CSV in your export folder. You can also find past runs in the History section of the app.

Q: What does the Not Interested field mean? A: It marks topics the profile told X (Twitter) not to show. A YES value means the profile rejected that topic.

Q: Why does the export return fewer topics than expected? A: X limits topic visibility per account.

Troubleshooting#

The automation asks me to connect the account again. The platform session expired. Reconnect the account with the TexAu browser extension. See Connect accounts with the TexAu browser extension.

The run fails with an invalid URL error. Copy the URL exactly as the Inputs table shows. The automation checks the URL format before it runs.

The CSV has fewer results than expected. The platform shows less data to your account than the total count suggests. Private or restricted profiles do not appear. This is normal platform behavior.

The automation stops before the run completes. You reached a rate limit window. Wait for the window to reset, then run the automation again. See Manage rate limits.

The same run fails several times. Note the exact error message from the app. Contact TexAu support and include this message and the automation name.
