Pace rows: Auto, Manual and Off
When you run an automation with a CSV file, the "Pace rows" setting decides how long the app waits between rows. Pacing spreads your rows over time instead of sending them all at once.
The setting appears above the run button after you choose "Import CSV". A single-input run does not use pacing.
The three options#
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| "Auto" | The default. The app works out the wait between rows from your rate limits. |
| "Manual" | You choose the wait in seconds. |
| "Off" | Rows run back to back with no wait. Your rate limits still apply. |
"Off" is not available for LinkedIn and X (Twitter) automations. For those, choose "Auto" or "Manual".
How "Auto" works#
The app looks at the rate limits of the automation, for example 30 runs per hour or 100 runs per day. For each limit, it divides the time window by the number of runs allowed. It then uses the shortest of these waits.
- Example: a limit of 30 runs per hour gives a wait of about 2 minutes between rows.
- The wait is never longer than 10 minutes.
- If the automation has no rate limit, the app waits between 45 and 60 seconds between rows.
Under the setting, the app shows the current wait, for example "~2 min". While the run goes, the status line shows that the app is pacing rows and when the next row starts. A long wait between rows is normal. The run is not stuck.
To change the limits that "Auto" uses, read Manage rate limits.
Set a manual wait#
- Choose "Import CSV" and map your columns.
- In "Pace rows", choose "Manual".
- In "Custom pace (seconds between rows)", enter the number of seconds.
- Start the run.
If you leave the field blank or enter 0, rows run back to back.
Turn pacing off#
- In "Pace rows", choose "Off".
- Read the warning "Before you edit".
- Click "I understand, continue".
Even with pacing off, the run pauses when it reaches a rate limit.
FAQs#
Does the wait between rows use my runtime? Runtime counts the time that automations spend running. Read Your AppSumo plan.
Can I change the pace during a run? No. The setting is locked while the run goes. Pause the run, or wait for it to finish, then change it for the next run.
Can I pause during a wait? Yes. Click "Pause". The app stops the wait right away.
