Why this automation is useful#

A Slack profile holds more data than the profile card shows. This automation writes every visible field to a CSV. One run covers one profile.

The export shows whether the member accepts DMs. It also flags admins, owners, bots, and restricted accounts.

The profile must belong to a workspace you joined.

Use cases#

  1. Qualify a prospect before outreach. Scrape the profile of a member who asked a buying question. Check job title, timezone, and LinkedIn. Personalize the first message with real details.
  2. Vet a candidate from a community. A member applied from your Slack community. Scrape the profile for LinkedIn and Github links. Add the verified links to the candidate file.
  3. Identify community leaders. Scrape the profiles of the most active members. The Admin and Owner flags confirm their roles. Invite real leaders to your ambassador program.
  4. Check DM reachability before a campaign. The DM Open field shows whether a member accepts direct messages. Scrape the profiles on your target list. Drop members who do not accept DMs from the DM campaign.
  5. Freelancer play: research a new client contact. Scrape the contact profile. Note the timezone for call scheduling and the social links for context. Walk into the first call prepared.

How to use it#

  1. Connect your Slack workspace with the TexAu browser extension. Guide 02 in the docs shows the steps.
  2. Open Slack Profile Scraper in the TexAu Desktop app.
  3. Enter the inputs. Paste the profile URL. The format is https://texau20.slack.com/team/U05R6FB450S.
  4. Run the automation.
  5. Open the CSV in your export folder when the run ends.

Limits and limitations#

  • This automation has no built-in execution limit. Your account rate limits still apply.
  • One run extracts one profile.
  • The profile must belong to a workspace your account joined.
  • Members control which profile fields are visible. Hidden fields stay empty in the CSV.
  • Slack can change its product at any time.

FAQ#

Q: How many profiles can I scrape per day? A: This automation has no built-in execution limit. Your account rate limits still apply. One run covers one profile.

Q: Can Slack restrict my account? A: Yes. Slack can restrict your account if you exceed normal usage. TexAu adds random delays between actions. Keep volumes moderate.

Q: Do I need a proxy? A: A proxy is not required for one account. Use one proxy per account when you run many accounts.

Q: What account do I need? A: A free Slack account is enough. You must be a member of the workspace.

Q: Does the automation dedupe profiles? A: TexAu dedupes repeated runs of the same input. Keep your CSVs clean by not re-running the same input.

Q: Where do results go? A: Results save as a CSV in your export folder. You can also find past runs in the History section of the app.

Q: Can I scrape many profiles at once? A: One run extracts one profile. Run the automation again for each URL. Use Slack People Search Export for bulk profile lists.

Q: Does the member get notified? A: No. The automation reads profile data your account can already view.

Troubleshooting#

The workspace picker is empty. The Slack workspace is not connected. Connect the workspace with the TexAu browser extension. See Connect accounts with the TexAu browser extension.

The run fails with an invalid URL error. Copy the URL exactly as the Inputs table shows. The automation checks the URL format before it runs.

The CSV has fewer results than expected. Your Slack plan controls how much history a search returns. Free workspaces show a limited message history. This is normal Slack behavior.

The automation stops before the run completes. You reached a rate limit window. Wait for the window to reset, then run the automation again. See Manage rate limits.

The same run fails several times. Note the exact error message from the app. Contact TexAu support and include this message and the automation name.
