Why this automation is useful#

One post URL gives you a complete record of the post and its author. You see the content, the engagement counts, and the posting device. You also see the author bio, email in bio, and website URLs.

Manual collection of this data means opening many profiles and copying values by hand. The automation writes everything to one CSV row per post. Research across hundreds of posts becomes a repeatable task.

The engagement counts support data-driven decisions. You can compare views, replies, retweets, and quotes across posts. Poll results show what an audience voted for, which is direct market feedback.

Use cases#

  1. Reverse-engineer viral posts in your niche. Scrape the top posts from competitors and creators. Compare views count, reply count, and quote count in a spreadsheet. Post more of the formats that win.
  2. Capture contact details from a buying signal. A prospect posts about a problem your product solves. Scrape the post to get the email in bio and website URLs. Send a relevant pitch the same day.
  3. Benchmark client accounts for an agency report. Scrape a fixed set of client and competitor posts each week. Track followers count and engagement counts over time. Show the trend in your monthly report.
  4. Harvest poll results as free market research. Business owners can scrape poll posts from industry accounts. The voters counts per choice show audience preferences. Use the results to pick your next offer or feature.
  5. Build a swipe file as a freelance content writer. Scrape high-performing posts in your client's niche. Sort by retweet count and quote count. Use the patterns to write posts that match proven demand.
  6. Monitor a product launch. Sales teams can scrape the launch posts of competitors. Track views and replies in the first days. Use the data to position your own launch messaging.

How to use it#

  1. Connect your X (Twitter) account with the TexAu browser extension.
  2. Open Twitter Tweet Scraper in the TexAu Desktop app.
  3. Enter the post URL. Use the format https://x.com/username/status/123456789.
  4. Run the automation.
  5. Open the CSV in your export folder when the run ends.

The automation uses your active session. Do not use the account heavily in the browser during the run.

Limits and limitations#

  • TexAu sets a default limit of 1200 executions per day and 600 executions per hour for this automation.
  • An active X (Twitter) session is required.
  • Posts from protected accounts are not available unless your account follows them.
  • Deleted posts return no data.
  • X (Twitter) can change what post data is available at any time.

FAQ#

Q: How many posts can I scrape per day? A: TexAu sets a default limit of 1200 executions per day and 600 executions per hour.

Q: Can X (Twitter) restrict my account for scraping posts? A: Yes, if you exceed limits. TexAu adds random delays between actions. Keep to the default limits to reduce risk.

Q: Do I need a proxy? A: A proxy is not required for one account. Use one proxy per account when you run many accounts.

Q: What account do I need? A: A free X (Twitter) account is enough.

Q: Does the automation dedupe results? A: TexAu dedupes repeated runs of the same input. Keep your CSVs clean by not re-running the same input.

Q: Where do the results go? A: Results save as a CSV in your export folder. You can also find past runs in the History section of the app.

Q: Can I scrape a post from a protected account? A: No, unless your connected account follows that protected account. X (Twitter) hides protected posts from other accounts.

Q: What happens if the post has a poll? A: The export includes poll choice labels 1 to 4 and poll voters counts 1 to 4. Posts without a poll return empty poll fields.

Troubleshooting#

The automation asks me to connect the account again. The platform session expired. Reconnect the account with the TexAu browser extension. See Connect accounts with the TexAu browser extension.

The run fails with an invalid URL error. Copy the URL exactly as the Inputs table shows. The automation checks the URL format before it runs.

The CSV has fewer results than expected. The platform shows less data to your account than the total count suggests. Private or restricted profiles do not appear. This is normal platform behavior.

The automation stops before the run completes. You reached a rate limit window. Wait for the window to reset, then run the automation again. See Manage rate limits.

The same run fails several times. Note the exact error message from the app. Contact TexAu support and include this message and the automation name.
