Why this automation is useful#

Google Maps is the most complete public directory of local businesses. Copying listings by hand stops after a few entries.

This automation exports up to 80 businesses per launch. Each row combines contact fields, ratings, and business attributes. One file supports lead lists, market maps, and competitor research.

The Claimed column shows whether the owner manages the listing. An unclaimed listing signals weak marketing operations. That gap creates an opening for agencies and freelancers.

Use cases#

  1. Build a local-business lead list. Search a niche plus a city, for example "dentists in Austin". Export 80 results. Load the phone and website columns into your cold outreach tool.
  2. Prospect local-SEO clients as an agency. Export businesses in your target niche. Filter the CSV for low ratings or unclaimed listings. Pitch listing management and review generation to those businesses first.
  3. Map competitors before entering a market. Search the competitor category in each target city. Export the results. Compare ratings and reviews counts to rank the strongest players per city.
  4. Find businesses without a website. Export a niche and filter for empty Website URL cells. Pitch web design or Google Business Profile setup to those businesses.
  5. Plan territory for a multi-location business. Search your category across candidate cities. Export the results per city. Use reviews counts and ratings to measure demand and competition density.
  6. Source partners for local campaigns. Search complementary businesses near your location, for example gyms near a health-food restaurant. Export the list. Call the top-rated businesses with a cross-promotion offer.

How to use it#

  1. Open Google Maps Search Export in the TexAu Desktop app.
  2. Enter a Google Maps search URL or a place keyword. Sample keyword: Hotels in Phoenix.
  3. Set the extract limit. The maximum is 80 results per launch.
  4. Run the automation.
  5. Open the CSV in your export folder when the run ends.

For a keyword, combine the business type and the city. For a URL, run the search on Google Maps first and copy the URL from the address bar.

The automation reads public Google Maps data. No account connection is needed.

Limits and limitations#

  • TexAu sets a default limit of 150 executions per day for this automation.
  • Maximum 80 results per launch.
  • Google Maps returns a limited result set per search. Split a large city into neighborhoods or postal codes to collect more businesses.
  • The result set depends on the search input. Google can return different results for the same keyword over time.
  • Not every listing publishes every field. Some cells can be empty in the CSV.

FAQ#

Q: How many searches can I run per day? A: TexAu sets a default limit of 150 executions per day. Each launch exports at most 80 results.

Q: Can Google restrict my account for exporting Maps data? A: No Google account is connected, so your account is not at risk. High-volume runs from one network connection can hit temporary Google rate limits. TexAu adds random delays between requests. Keep to the default limits.

Q: Do I need a proxy? A: A proxy is not required for one account. Use one proxy per account when you run many accounts.

Q: Do I need a Google account or a paid subscription? A: No. Google Maps listings are public data. The automation needs only a search URL or a keyword.

Q: Does the automation dedupe results? A: TexAu dedupes repeated runs of the same input. Keep your CSVs clean by not re-running the same input.

Q: Where do the results go? A: Results save as a CSV in your export folder. You can also find past runs in the History section of the app.

Q: How do I collect more than 80 results for one niche? A: Split the search into smaller areas. Run one launch per neighborhood or postal code. Combine the CSVs in your spreadsheet tool.

Q: What does the Claimed column mean? A: A claimed listing has an owner who manages it. An unclaimed listing signals that the owner does not manage the Google presence.

Troubleshooting#

The run fails with an invalid URL error. Copy the URL exactly as the Inputs table shows. The automation checks the URL format before it runs.

Some fields are empty in the CSV. The source page does not publish every field for every result. The automation returns the fields that the page shows.

The CSV has fewer results than my extract limit. The source stopped returning results for this input. Lower the extract limit or change the input.

The same run fails several times. Note the exact error message from the app. Contact TexAu support and include this message and the automation name.
