Why this automation is useful#
A X (Twitter) list is a curated feed of accounts around one theme. The list timeline moves fast and has no export option. This automation writes the latest posts and member profiles to a CSV.
Each row pairs a member with a recent post and its engagement counts. You see the bio, followers count, and email in bio for each member. You also see replies, retweets, quotes, and likes for each post.
This makes a list useful outside X (Twitter). You can monitor competitors, track prospects, and find conversation openers from one file.
Use cases#
- Monitor a prospect list for conversation openers. Sales teams keep a private list of target accounts. Export it weekly. Reply to the posts that mention a problem you solve, then move the thread to direct messages.
- Track competitor activity in one CSV. Add competitor accounts to a list. Export it on a schedule. Compare post content and engagement counts to spot their campaigns and offers early.
- Build an agency listening report. Create a list of industry voices for each client. Export the latest posts before each reporting call. Summarize the top topics and the posts with the highest likes count.
- Find warm leads in a niche list. Business owners can subscribe to public lists in their market. Export the members and filter for DM open and email in bio. Contact those profiles first.
- Source guest experts for content. Freelancers running interviews or podcasts can export a curated expert list. Sort by followers count and recent post activity. Pitch the active members with a specific topic.
- Watch a launch or event. Add speakers and attendees to a temporary list. Export the posts during the event. Collect quotable posts and contact details for follow-up content.
How to use it#
- Connect your X (Twitter) account with the TexAu browser extension.
- Open Twitter List Export in the TexAu Desktop app.
- Enter the list URL. Use the format
https://twitter.com/username/lists/list-name. - Run the automation.
- Open the CSV in your export folder when the run ends.
The automation uses your active session. Do not use the account heavily in the browser during the run. For private lists, the connected account must have access to the list.
Limits and limitations#
- TexAu sets a default limit of 4000 executions per day and 20 executions per hour for this automation.
- An active X (Twitter) session is required.
- Private lists require access from the connected account.
- Members with protected accounts can return limited data.
- Re-running the same list returns the latest posts at run time. Post content changes between runs.
FAQ#
Q: How many list exports can I run per day? A: TexAu sets a default limit of 4000 executions per day and 20 executions per hour.
Q: Can X (Twitter) restrict my account for exporting lists? A: Yes, if you exceed limits. TexAu adds random delays between actions. Keep to the default limits to reduce risk.
Q: Do I need a proxy? A: A proxy is not required for one account. Use one proxy per account when you run many accounts.
Q: What account do I need? A: A free X (Twitter) account is enough.
Q: Does the automation dedupe results? A: TexAu dedupes repeated runs of the same input. Keep your CSVs clean by not re-running the same input.
Q: Where do the results go? A: Results save as a CSV in your export folder. You can also find past runs in the History section of the app.
Q: Can I export a private list? A: Yes, if your connected account owns or can access that private list. Lists you cannot access return no data.
Q: Does the export include old posts? A: No. The automation exports the latest posts from the list timeline at run time.
Troubleshooting#
The automation asks me to connect the account again. The platform session expired. Reconnect the account with the TexAu browser extension. See Connect accounts with the TexAu browser extension.
The run fails with an invalid URL error. Copy the URL exactly as the Inputs table shows. The automation checks the URL format before it runs.
The CSV has fewer results than expected. The platform shows less data to your account than the total count suggests. Private or restricted profiles do not appear. This is normal platform behavior.
The automation stops before the run completes. You reached a rate limit window. Wait for the window to reset, then run the automation again. See Manage rate limits.
The same run fails several times. Note the exact error message from the app. Contact TexAu support and include this message and the automation name.
