Why this automation is useful#

Direct messages reach people where public replies do not. Manual outreach to dozens of profiles each day is slow. This automation sends each message and logs the conversation ID. The Reply Detection option prevents a second message to people who already answered.

Direct message limits on X (Twitter) are strict. The default cap of 50 messages per day keeps the account inside safe territory.

Use cases#

  1. Webinar follow-up. Message each attendee with the recording link. Send 50 per day within the default limit. Book demos from the replies.
  2. Freelance pitches. Message businesses that posted about needing your skill. Write one line about your work and add a portfolio link. Track replies in your inbox.
  3. Creator partnerships for agencies. Message 40 shortlisted creators about a client campaign. Turn on Reply Detection for the follow-up run. Creators who answered receive no second message.
  4. Welcome new followers. Message new followers a thank-you and a useful resource link. Turn attention into email signups.
  5. Podcast guest booking. Message shortlisted experts with the show pitch and a calendar link. Fill the recording schedule from replies.
  6. Re-engage quiet leads. Message prospects who went quiet after a public exchange. Reference the earlier conversation in the text.

How to use it#

  1. Connect your X (Twitter) account with the TexAu browser extension.
  2. Open Twitter Auto Message in the TexAu Desktop app.
  3. Enter the Twitter Profile URL. Sample: https://x.com/username/.
  4. Enter the Message text.
  5. If you want to reach only people who have not replied, turn on Reply Detection.
  6. Run the automation.
  7. Open the CSV in your export folder when the run ends.

The automation uses your active session. Do not use the account heavily in the browser during the run. The recipient must accept direct messages from your account. A closed inbox causes a failed send.

Limits and limitations#

  • The action happens under your name and is visible to others. Review the inputs before you run the automation.
  • TexAu sets a default limit of 50 executions per day and 5 executions per hour for this automation.
  • A connected X (Twitter) session is required.
  • The recipient must allow message requests from accounts they do not follow, or follow your account. Otherwise the send fails.
  • Identical messages to many profiles can trigger spam filters. Personalize the text per profile.

FAQ#

Q: How many direct messages can I send per day? A: TexAu sets a default limit of 50 executions per day and 5 executions per hour.

Q: Can X (Twitter) restrict my account for auto messages? A: Yes, if you exceed limits. TexAu adds random delays between actions. Keep to the default limits.

Q: Do I need a proxy? A: A proxy is not required for one account. Use one proxy per account when you run many accounts.

Q: What account do I need? A: A free X (Twitter) account is enough. No paid subscription is required.

Q: Does the automation dedupe results? A: TexAu dedupes repeated runs of the same input. Keep your CSVs clean by not re-running the same input.

Q: Where do results go? A: Results save as a CSV in your export folder. You can also find past runs in the History section of the app.

Q: Can I message someone who does not follow me? A: Yes, when the recipient allows message requests from everyone. If the inbox is closed to non-followers, the send fails.

Q: What does Reply Detection do? A: It checks the conversation before sending. The automation sends the message only when the person has not replied. Use it for follow-up runs.

Troubleshooting#

The automation asks me to connect the account again. The platform session expired. Reconnect the account with the TexAu browser extension. See Connect accounts with the TexAu browser extension.

The run fails with an invalid URL error. Copy the URL exactly as the Inputs table shows. The automation checks the URL format before it runs.

The action did not appear on the platform. Check the run status in the History section. If the run failed, reconnect the account and run again.

The automation skipped my input. TexAu dedupes repeated runs of the same input. A second run of the same input does not repeat the action.

The same run fails several times. Note the exact error message from the app. Contact TexAu support and include this message and the automation name.
