Why this automation is useful#
Impressions data is private to the account owner. X (Twitter) shows it in the app, but there is no export button. This automation writes the numbers to a CSV for each post URL you provide.
The metrics cover the full path from view to action. Impressions show reach. Engagements, detail expansions, and link clicks show interest. Profile visits and follows show what the post did for your account growth.
Running this automation on a schedule turns post analytics into a dataset. You can compare posts, weeks, and campaigns in a spreadsheet.
Use cases#
- Find which posts grow your account. Export metrics for your last 30 posts. Rank them by follows and profile visits. Write more posts in the formats that bring followers, not only views.
- Measure campaign link clicks for a client. Agencies can export impressions and link clicks for each campaign post. Divide clicks by impressions for a click rate per post. Report the number that matters to the client.
- Build a monthly analytics report as a freelancer. Run the automation on every client post at month end. Combine the CSVs into one report. Show impressions, engagements, and follows per post.
- Test posting times. Business owners can export impressions for similar posts published at different times. Compare the numbers. Move your posting schedule to the time window with the best reach.
- Qualify content ideas before scaling. Sales teams posting thought leadership can track detail expansions and profile visits. High expansion counts mean readers wanted more. Turn those topics into longer content.
How to use it#
- Connect your X (Twitter) account with the TexAu browser extension.
- Open Twitter Impressions Export in the TexAu Desktop app.
- Enter the post URL. The post must be published by your connected account.
- Run the automation.
- Open the CSV in your export folder when the run ends.
The automation uses your active session. Do not use the account heavily in the browser during the run.
Limits and limitations#
- TexAu sets a default limit of 16000 executions per day and 2000 executions per hour for this automation.
- You can only export impressions of your own posts. Posts from other accounts return no metrics.
- An active X (Twitter) session is required.
- Metric definitions come from X (Twitter) and can change over time.
FAQ#
Q: How many posts can I export per day? A: TexAu sets a default limit of 16000 executions per day and 2000 executions per hour.
Q: Can I export impressions for another account's post? A: No. Impressions are private metrics. X (Twitter) only shows them to the account that published the post.
Q: Can X (Twitter) restrict my account for exporting impressions? A: Yes, if you exceed limits. TexAu adds random delays between actions. Keep to the default limits to reduce risk.
Q: Do I need a proxy? A: A proxy is not required for one account. Use one proxy per account when you run many accounts.
Q: What account do I need? A: A free X (Twitter) account is enough. You must connect the account that published the posts.
Q: Does the automation dedupe results? A: TexAu dedupes repeated runs of the same input. Keep your CSVs clean by not re-running the same input.
Q: Where do the results go? A: Results save as a CSV in your export folder. You can also find past runs in the History section of the app.
Q: What is the difference between impressions and engagements? A: Impressions count how many times the post was shown. Engagements count how many times people interacted with it.
Troubleshooting#
The automation asks me to connect the account again. The platform session expired. Reconnect the account with the TexAu browser extension. See Connect accounts with the TexAu browser extension.
The run fails with an invalid URL error. Copy the URL exactly as the Inputs table shows. The automation checks the URL format before it runs.
The CSV has fewer results than expected. The platform shows less data to your account than the total count suggests. Private or restricted profiles do not appear. This is normal platform behavior.
The automation stops before the run completes. You reached a rate limit window. Wait for the window to reset, then run the automation again. See Manage rate limits.
The same run fails several times. Note the exact error message from the app. Contact TexAu support and include this message and the automation name.
