Why this automation is useful#

The Slack people directory is hard to browse at scale. This automation writes matching profiles to a CSV. You get names, job titles, emails, and social links in one file.

Email, phone, and social fields appear when members share them. Empty fields mean the member did not share that data.

The search runs inside workspaces you joined.

Use cases#

  1. Build a prospect list from a niche community. In a community you joined, search for a buyer title, for example Head of Growth. Export up to 5,000 profiles. Load the emails into your cold email tool.
  2. Source candidates by title for recruiting. Search for iOS Engineer in a developer community workspace. Export profiles with LinkedIn URLs. Contact the shortlist where they are active.
  3. Find speakers for a community event. Search for expert titles in the workspace. Filter by LinkedIn or Twitter presence. Invite the top ten.
  4. Agency play: map decision makers in a client workspace. Search for CEO, Founder, or Head of, one run at a time. Combine the CSVs. Your account team knows who to brief.
  5. Freelancer play: find collaborators for a project. Search for a skill title. Review job titles and portfolio links. Build a bench for overflow work.

How to use it#

  1. Connect your Slack workspace with the TexAu browser extension. Read Connect accounts with the TexAu browser extension for the steps.
  2. Open Slack People Search Export in the TexAu Desktop app.
  3. Enter the search keywords. A name or a job title works, for example Developer.
  4. Set the extract limit. The maximum is 5,000 profiles per launch.
  5. Run the automation.
  6. Open the CSV in your export folder when the run ends.

Limits and limitations#

  • This automation has no built-in execution limit. Your account rate limits still apply.
  • Maximum 5,000 profiles per launch.
  • The search covers members of workspaces your account joined.
  • Members control which profile fields are visible. Hidden fields stay empty in the CSV.
  • Slack can change its product at any time.

FAQ#

Q: How many profiles can I export per day? A: This automation has no built-in execution limit. Your account rate limits still apply. The extract cap is 5,000 profiles per launch.

Q: Can Slack restrict my account? A: Yes. Slack can restrict your account if you exceed normal usage. TexAu adds random delays between actions. Keep volumes moderate.

Q: Do I need a proxy? A: A proxy is not required for one account. Use one proxy per account when you run many accounts.

Q: What account do I need? A: A free Slack account is enough. You must be a member of the workspace.

Q: Does the automation dedupe profiles? A: TexAu dedupes repeated runs of the same input. Keep your CSVs clean by not re-running the same input.

Q: Where do results go? A: Results save as a CSV in your export folder. You can also find past runs in the History section of the app.

Q: Can I search by company? A: The search matches profile data such as name and job title. Slack profiles do not always carry a company field.

Q: How do I export a full member list? A: Use a broad keyword, or run Slack Channel Members Extractor on a channel. Channel extraction returns every member of that channel.

Troubleshooting#

The workspace picker is empty. The Slack workspace is not connected. Connect the workspace with the TexAu browser extension. See Connect accounts with the TexAu browser extension.

The run fails with an invalid URL error. Copy the URL exactly as the Inputs table shows. The automation checks the URL format before it runs.

The CSV has fewer results than expected. Your Slack plan controls how much history a search returns. Free workspaces show a limited message history. This is normal Slack behavior.

The automation stops before it reaches my extract limit. You reached a rate limit window. Wait for the window to reset, then run the automation again. See Manage rate limits.

The same run fails several times. Note the exact error message from the app. Contact TexAu support and include this message and the automation name.
