Why this automation is useful#

Following is a discovery signal. Each follow sends a notification to the author. A share of authors visits your profile and follows back. Manual following across a long URL list is slow. This automation processes the list and logs each result.

The export doubles as a profile snapshot. It contains follower counts, bio, and account flags at follow time. You keep a record for targeting analysis.

Use cases#

  1. Follow back your engaged audience. Collect profiles that liked or replied to your posts. Follow them from the CSV. A share follows back and grows your audience.
  2. Competitor audience play. Export a competitor's followers into a CSV. Follow 50 per day from the list. Your name appears in their notifications before any outreach.
  3. Local business visibility. Follow local businesses, community groups, and local media. Build a local network around a store or service.
  4. Follow conference speakers before the event. Follow speakers and attendees two weeks before the event. Like their posts so your name is familiar. Start conversations on site.
  5. Talent sourcing. Follow candidates in a niche from a sourced list. Build a pool of profiles for future roles. Contact them when a role opens.
  6. Freelance client sourcing. Follow agencies and studios that post freelance briefs. Their posts appear in your following feed. Reply fast when a brief matches your skill.

How to use it#

  1. Connect your X (Twitter) account with the TexAu browser extension.
  2. Open Twitter Auto Follow in the TexAu Desktop app.
  3. Enter the Twitter Profile URL. Sample: https://x.com/username/.
  4. Run the automation.
  5. Open the CSV in your export folder when the run ends.

The automation uses your active session. Do not use the account heavily in the browser during the run. Check the Success column for each processed URL. Protected profiles show TRUE in the Follow Sent column.

Limits and limitations#

  • TexAu sets a default limit of 400 executions per day and 60 executions per hour for this automation.
  • A connected X (Twitter) session is required.
  • Aggressive following triggers platform restrictions faster than most actions. Follow a small number per day on new accounts.
  • Protected accounts receive a follow request, not a follow. The author must approve the request.

FAQ#

Q: How many profiles can I follow per day? A: TexAu sets a default limit of 400 executions per day and 60 executions per hour. Start lower on new accounts.

Q: Can X (Twitter) restrict my account for auto following? A: Yes, if you exceed limits. TexAu adds random delays between actions. Keep to the default limits.

Q: Do I need a proxy? A: A proxy is not required for one account. Use one proxy per account when you run many accounts.

Q: What account do I need? A: A free X (Twitter) account is enough. No paid subscription is required.

Q: Does the automation dedupe results? A: TexAu dedupes repeated runs of the same input. Keep your CSVs clean by not re-running the same input.

Q: Where do results go? A: Results save as a CSV in your export folder. You can also find past runs in the History section of the app.

Q: What happens with protected accounts? A: The automation sends a follow request. The Follow Sent column in the CSV shows TRUE for those profiles.

Q: Can I unfollow with this automation? A: No. This automation follows profiles only.

Troubleshooting#

The automation asks me to connect the account again. The platform session expired. Reconnect the account with the TexAu browser extension. See Connect accounts with the TexAu browser extension.

The run fails with an invalid URL error. Copy the URL exactly as the Inputs table shows. The automation checks the URL format before it runs.

The action did not appear on the platform. Check the run status in the History section. If the run failed, reconnect the account and run again.

The automation skipped my input. TexAu dedupes repeated runs of the same input. A second run of the same input does not repeat the action.

The same run fails several times. Note the exact error message from the app. Contact TexAu support and include this message and the automation name.
