Why this automation is useful#
Structured data drives rich results in search, for example star ratings, prices, and FAQ blocks. Pages without schema markup miss those placements.
Checking schema by hand means viewing page source on every URL. This automation extracts the raw JSON-LD in one run and writes it to a CSV.
The data supports technical SEO audits, competitor research, and implementation checks across many pages.
Use cases#
- Audit competitor schema for SEO advantage. Run the automation on competitor pages that outrank you. See which schema types they publish, for example Product, FAQ, or Organization. Add the missing types to your own pages and track click-through rate.
- Run a technical SEO audit for a client. Extract JSON-LD from every key page of the client site. List the pages with no structured data. Put the gaps and the recommended schema types into the audit report.
- Prospect for schema implementation work. Scan the sites of companies in your target niche. Filter for empty JSON LD fields. Pitch structured data work with proof of the gap.
- Validate a schema deployment on your own site. Run your key URLs after a release. Confirm the JSON-LD output matches the markup you shipped. Fix pages where the export comes back empty.
- Study a niche before a content project. Collect the schema of the top-ranking pages in a topic area. Note the markup patterns the winners share. Replicate the pattern for your client or your own site.
How to use it#
- Open Website Schema Extractor in the TexAu Desktop app.
- Enter the website URL. Use the full URL, for example https://www.texau.com/.
- Run the automation.
- Open the CSV in your export folder when the run ends.
No account connection is needed. The automation reads public web pages from your computer.
Limits and limitations#
- This automation has no built-in execution limit. Your account rate limits still apply.
- If a site blocks crawlers or loads slowly, the run returns fewer fields.
- The automation reads public pages only. Pages behind a login are not available.
- Not all sites publish JSON-LD markup. An empty JSON LD field means the page has no schema markup.
FAQ#
Q: Is there a daily run limit? A: This automation has no built-in execution limit. Your account rate limits still apply.
Q: Do I need an account or a subscription? A: No. The automation reads public websites. No platform account or paid subscription is needed.
Q: Can a website block the automation? A: Yes. Some sites block crawlers or respond slowly. If that happens, the run returns fewer fields. Re-run the URL later or open the site in your browser to check access.
Q: Do I need a proxy? A: A proxy is not required for normal use. A proxy helps when you crawl many sites that block crawlers.
Q: What is JSON-LD? A: JSON-LD is a structured data format that websites publish for search engines. It describes the page content, for example a product, an article, or an organization.
Q: Why is the JSON LD field empty? A: The page publishes no JSON-LD markup, or the site blocked the crawler. Check the page source in your browser to confirm.
Q: Does the automation dedupe results? A: TexAu dedupes repeated runs of the same input. Keep your CSVs clean by not re-running the same input.
Q: Where do the results go? A: Results save as a CSV in your export folder. You can also find past runs in the History section of the app.
Troubleshooting#
The run fails with an invalid URL error. Copy the URL exactly as the Inputs table shows. The automation checks the URL format before it runs.
Some fields are empty in the CSV. The source page does not publish every field for every result. The automation returns the fields that the page shows.
The CSV has fewer results than expected. The website blocked the crawl or answered slowly. Run the automation again, or try the main page URL.
The same run fails several times. Note the exact error message from the app. Contact TexAu support and include this message and the automation name.
