The export also includes member flags: Status, Admin, Owner, Primary Owner, Restricted, Ultra Restricted, Bot User, App User, Invited User, and Update Date. It also includes channel statistics: Members Count, Invitees Count, Guests Count, Bots Count, and Apps Count.

This table lists the main outputs. A real run returns more columns, about 40 in total.

Why this automation is useful#

Slack shows channel members one screen at a time. Copying names by hand from a large channel takes hours. This automation writes the full member list to a CSV in one run.

The export carries job title, email, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Github fields when members share them. You get a prospect or research list without asking anyone to fill a form.

The automation works only on channels in workspaces you joined. The data reflects what each member shares on their Slack profile.

Use cases#

  1. Mine a niche community for prospects. Pick a channel in a community you joined, for example a RevOps Slack group. Extract up to 20,000 members. Filter by job title. Load the CSV into your cold email tool.
  2. Build a lookalike list from a partner community. Extract the members of a partner channel. Match emails and LinkedIn URLs against your CRM. Contacts who are not customers become your outreach list.
  3. Recruit from a specialist channel. Extract members of a channel for the skill you hire for. Sort by job title and timezone. Message the shortlist where they are active.
  4. Map champions inside a customer community. Extract the members of the customer channel. Flag admins and owners with the Admin and Owner columns. Route the champions to your customer success team.
  5. Clean a bloated channel. Extract the list. Sort by the Deleted and Bot User columns. Give the workspace admin a removal list.

How to use it#

  1. Connect your Slack workspace with the TexAu browser extension. Read Connect accounts with the TexAu browser extension for the steps.
  2. Open Slack Channel Members Extractor in the TexAu Desktop app.
  3. Enter the inputs. Paste the channel URL. The format is https://app.slack.com/client/TXXXXXXX/CXXXXXXX.
  4. Set the extract limit. The maximum is 20,000 members per launch.
  5. Run the automation.
  6. Open the CSV in your export folder when the run ends.

Large channels take longer to extract. Do not close the TexAu Desktop app during the run.

Limits and limitations#

  • This automation has no built-in execution limit. Your account rate limits still apply.
  • Maximum 20,000 members per launch.
  • The automation extracts only channels your account can access in a connected workspace.
  • Members control which profile fields are visible. Hidden fields stay empty in the CSV.
  • Slack can change its product at any time.

FAQ#

Q: How many members can I extract per day? A: This automation has no built-in execution limit. Your account rate limits still apply. The extract cap is 20,000 members per launch.

Q: Can Slack restrict my account? A: Yes. Slack can restrict your account if you exceed normal usage. TexAu adds random delays between actions. Keep volumes moderate.

Q: Do I need a proxy? A: A proxy is not required for one account. Use one proxy per account when you run many accounts.

Q: What account do I need? A: A free Slack account is enough. You must be a member of the workspace.

Q: Does the automation dedupe members? A: TexAu dedupes repeated runs of the same input. Keep your CSVs clean by not re-running the same input.

Q: Where do results go? A: Results save as a CSV in your export folder. You can also find past runs in the History section of the app.

Q: Why are some email fields empty? A: Members choose what to share on their Slack profile. The automation cannot read fields a member hides.

Q: Can I extract a private channel? A: Yes, if your account is a member of that private channel.

Troubleshooting#

The workspace picker is empty. The Slack workspace is not connected. Connect the workspace with the TexAu browser extension. See Connect accounts with the TexAu browser extension.

The run fails with an invalid URL error. Copy the URL exactly as the Inputs table shows. The automation checks the URL format before it runs.

The CSV has fewer results than expected. Your Slack plan controls how much history a search returns. Free workspaces show a limited message history. This is normal Slack behavior.

The automation stops before it reaches my extract limit. You reached a rate limit window. Wait for the window to reset, then run the automation again. See Manage rate limits.

The same run fails several times. Note the exact error message from the app. Contact TexAu support and include this message and the automation name.
