Why this automation is useful#

The alumni section of a LinkedIn school page is a strong prospecting source. It groups people by a shared education. LinkedIn offers no export for it. This automation saves the alumni list to a CSV.

The CSV includes names, headlines, job titles, companies, locations, and profile URLs. The connection degree column shows who is already close to your network.

A shared school is a natural opening line. Messages that reference a common background get more replies than generic outreach. The keyword and year filters let you target exactly the right graduation cohorts and roles.

Use cases#

  1. Open doors with the shared-school angle. Sales reps can export alumni of their own school who work at target accounts. Reference the school in the first message line. Track the reply rate against cold outreach.
  2. Build candidate lists for recruiting. Recruiting agencies can export alumni of a program with a keyword such as "data engineer". Set the year filters for the right seniority. Contact the candidates with role details.
  3. Hire from a specific program. Business owners can export recent graduates of a school they trust. Message them about open roles before larger companies reach them.
  4. Find warm paths into dream clients. Freelancers can export alumni of their school who work at target companies. Ask for a short call, alumni to alumni.
  5. Research graduate outcomes for a client. Agencies can export alumni of a program and group them by company and title. Use the data in an education market report.
  6. Segment a territory by school. Sales teams covering a region can export alumni of local schools. Add the CSV to the CRM as a warm prospect segment.

How to use it#

  1. Connect your LinkedIn account with the TexAu browser extension.
  2. Open LinkedIn Alumni Search Export in the TexAu Desktop app.
  3. Enter the LinkedIn school URL. Open the school page on LinkedIn and copy the URL from the address bar.
  4. Enter a keyword and year filters when you want a narrower list.
  5. Set the extract limit. The maximum is 1000 alumni per run.
  6. Run the automation.
  7. Open the CSV in your export folder when the run ends.

The automation uses your active LinkedIn session. Do not browse LinkedIn heavily during the run. One school URL is processed per run. Run the automation again for the next school.

Limits and limitations#

  • TexAu sets a default limit of 10 executions per day for this automation.
  • Maximum 1000 alumni per run.
  • One school URL is processed per run.
  • The automation reads profiles visible to your account. Private profiles show fewer fields.
  • Alumni must list the school on their profile to appear in the results.

FAQ#

Q: How many alumni searches can I run per day? A: TexAu sets a default limit of 10 executions per day for this automation. Each run extracts a maximum of 1000 alumni.

Q: Can LinkedIn restrict my account for using this automation? A: Yes, if you exceed normal usage limits. TexAu adds random delays between actions. Keep to the default limits to protect your account.

Q: Do I need a proxy? A: A proxy is not required for one account. Use one proxy per account when you run many accounts.

Q: Do I need a paid LinkedIn subscription? A: A free LinkedIn account is enough. The export also includes the Sales Navigator profile URL when it is available.

Q: Does the automation remove duplicates? A: TexAu dedupes repeated runs of the same input. Keep your CSVs clean by not re-running the same input.

Q: Where do the results go? A: Results save as a CSV in your export folder. You can also find past runs in the History section of the app.

Q: What do the start year and end year filters mean? A: They filter alumni by the years they attended the school. Use them to target specific graduation cohorts.

Q: Can I search alumni of several schools in one run? A: No. One school URL is processed per run. Run the automation again for each additional school.

Troubleshooting#

The automation asks me to connect the account again. The platform session expired. Reconnect the account with the TexAu browser extension. See Connect accounts with the TexAu browser extension.

The run fails with an invalid URL error. Copy the URL exactly as the Inputs table shows. The automation checks the URL format before it runs.

The CSV has fewer results than expected. The platform shows less data to your account than the total count suggests. Private or restricted profiles do not appear. This is normal platform behavior.

The automation stops before it reaches my extract limit. You reached a rate limit window. Wait for the window to reset, then run the automation again. See Manage rate limits.

The same run fails several times. Note the exact error message from the app. Contact TexAu support and include this message and the automation name.
