Manage rate limits
Rate limits control how many times an automation can run. Each automation has three limits: hourly, daily, and weekly. TexAu sets a safe default for each automation. You can set your own limits.
Key facts:
- The limits apply per automation and per connected account. Each account has its own budget.
- The windows roll. Hourly means the last 60 minutes, daily means the last 24 hours, and weekly means the last 7 days.
- Each attempted input counts, even if it fails. Rows that you discard before they start do not count.
- An empty field uses the TexAu default.
- A value of 0 blocks the automation. The table shows "Blocked" in red.
CAUTION: Do not raise the limits above the TexAu defaults without a reason. Higher limits increase the risk of restrictions, bans, or IP flags on your platform accounts.
Open the rate limits#
- Click "Accounts" in the left sidebar.
- Click "Rate Limits" in the top right corner.
- If the app shows the warning "Before you edit", read it and click "I understand, continue".
The "Rate Limits" modal opens. It shows a table with the columns "Name", "Daily", "Hourly", and "Weekly". The table shows the effective limit of each automation.
Change the limits of an automation#
- Find the automation in the table. Use the search box or the platform filter.
- Click "Edit" on the row.
- Type the new number in the "Daily", "Hourly", or "Weekly" field.
- Leave a field empty to keep the default for that field.
- Click the ✓ icon to save.
To discard your changes, click the ✕ icon. To restore all defaults for the row, click the ↺ icon ("Reset to default").
The new limits apply to all accounts that run this automation. The run page shows the effective limits as badges, for example "10 / day".
What happens when a run hits a limit#
The run pauses. Rows that are finished stay saved in the CSV file. The app shows a "Run paused" banner. It tells you which limit the run hit, how many inputs are still waiting, and when the budget frees up. The run waits under "Paused runs" in the left sidebar. Resume it after that time, or send it to the background.
If the limit is 0, the banner shows that the automation is blocked. Raise the limit first, then resume the run.
To continue a paused run:
- Wait until the banner time passes.
- Click "Resume".
The app makes sure that the budget is free. If the budget is still empty, the run pauses again with a new reset time. To drop the rows that did not start, click "Discard".
FAQs#
Where do I see the default limits? In the "Rate Limits" table and on the run page of each automation. TexAu sets the defaults per automation. If TexAu sets only a daily default, the app derives the hourly and weekly defaults from it.
Do my accounts share one budget? No. Each connected account has its own budget for each automation. If the daily limit is 10, each account can run 10 inputs per day.
What is the difference between rate limits and the monthly usage limit? Rate limits protect your platform accounts, and you can edit them. The monthly usage limit is part of your plan, and it meters execution time. The usage meter at the bottom of the left sidebar shows it. If you reach the monthly limit, the app blocks runs. The message shows your plan limit and ends with "Upgrade your plan to continue." AppSumo tiers give 50, 300 or 750 hours per month, or unlimited. The limit resets at midnight on the 1st of each month, in your computer's time zone. Unused hours do not carry over. To get more hours, upgrade your tier on AppSumo.
Can I block one automation completely? Yes. Set its limits to 0. The table shows "Blocked" for that automation. Runs of that automation pause until you raise the limit.
When does my budget come back? The windows roll. An attempt counts for one hour, one day, or one week after it happened. After that, it no longer counts. The pause banner shows the time when the budget frees up.
Do failed rows consume budget? Yes. Every attempted input counts. Only rows that never started do not count, for example rows that you discard.
