Fix "Could not check for updates"
The app needs an internet connection and a valid license to check for updates. If either one is missing, the "Updates" section shows "Could not check for updates. Please try again later."
Check your connection#
- Make sure that the computer is online.
- If you use a VPN, turn it off and try again.
- Click "Settings" in the left sidebar.
- Stay on the "Preferences" tab.
- Find the "Updates" section.
- Click "Check for updates".
The section shows the result, for example "You're on the latest version."
Check your license#
- Click "Settings" in the left sidebar.
- Open the "Account" tab.
- Find the "License" section.
- Check the email, the plan, the expiry date, and the last verification.
If the app shows an activation message, fix it first. Read "Activation problems" in Download, install, and activate TexAu Desktop. Then check for updates again.
Still not working#
Email support@texau.com from the email on your license. Include:
- The exact message from the "Updates" section.
- Your app version.
- Your computer: Windows or Mac.
Do not send your license key or your passwords.
